Welcome to the Santa Barbara Festival Ballet 2016-2017 season! Fall Classes start on August 22, 2016. Please note we are extending our year due to all the performances. Our season will be from August 22, 2016 through June 25, 2017. We are looking forward to an exciting new year. We hope to be adding tap and hip hop to our schedule as well. We will be holding an “open house” to celebrate the beginning of the new year, and other meetings to answer your questions and provide you with information on the variety of happenings at Festival Ballet. We hope you will help spread the word about our classes as well. Please share on your Facebook and be sure to “like” the Santa Barbara Festival Ballet page.
There have been some adjustments to the schedule, so please review the materials carefully. In particular we have slightly altered the times of classes as the changes we made last year were not optimal for the second group of classes in the day.
Santa Barbara Festival Ballet Performing Company
Auditions for SBFB Company Members are held on September 10th and will be combined with the Nutcracker auditions from 10-11:30 am. Auditions are open to dancers Grade 7 and up. All dancers interested in auditioning for the company must attend a dancer/parent meeting on September 3rd at noon. The meeting will cover information regarding the upcoming season, including The Nutcracker, member requirements, and Regional Dance America. Dancers who absolutely cannot attend this meeting but are still interested in auditioning for the company should contact Ms. Aimee directly at Aloballerina@gmail.com prior to the audition date.
Regional Dance America
In May of 2017 Regional Dance America is hosting a National Festival with all 5 regions from across the country to be held in Phoenix, Arizona. This year in addition to taking our interns and company members, we will be inviting “juniors” (dancers in levels 5-6) to attend. To get all the information about the festival, please attend the company meeting noted above, or speak with Ms. Aimee or Mrs. Rinaldi.
Performance of the Nutcracker at the Arlington Theater
December 10th and 11th, 2016
A dancer/parent meeting for all students interested in performing in this year’s production of The Nutcracker will be held on September 3rd at 2pm. This meeting is geared towards all students in Standard 1 through Grade 6. Though this meeting is not mandatory, students new to the production are strongly encouraged to attend. Nutcracker packets detailing the performance requirements, audition information, and the projected rehearsal calendar will be provided at the meeting. Packets will also be available at the studio during the week prior to the audition.
Auditions for the Nutcracker will be held on September 10th. Schedule will be available late summer.
